About CIM

Are you new to Mensa or a prospective member? We’d love to have you drop by one of our events as a guest.

Central Indiana Mensa (CIM) is a local chapter of: American Mensa, which is a national group of: Mensa International

Mensa is for those who rejoice in the exercise of the mind. If you enjoy mental challenges and revel in the interplay of ideas, Mensa is an organization that will stretch your mind and expand your horizons. Mensa is an international society that has one – and only one – unique qualification for membership: you must score in the top 2% of the population on a standardized IQ test.

The word “Mensa” means “table” in Latin. The organization is a round-table society, where race, color, creed, national origin, age, politics, and educational or social background are irrelevant. Officially, Mensa’s stated purposes are “to identify and foster human intelligence for the benefit of humanity; to encourage research in the nature, characteristics and uses of intelligence; and to provide a stimulating intellectual and social environment for its members.”

Mensa holds no opinions beyond its broadly stated constitutional aims. This web site serves in part as a forum for the exchange of ideas among Mensans, including provocative views that may challenge the perceptions, opinions, values and tastes of the reader.

Central Indiana Mensa currently serves the following geographic areas in central and southern Indiana. Central Indiana Mensa’s largest population center is Indianapolis. Our group also includes the cities of Evansville, Lafayette, Terre Haute, Kokomo, Anderson, Muncie, Bloomington, and Richmond.
